Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulator Remits N8.79 Trillion to Federation Account

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) remitted N8.79 trillion to the Federation Account between January and October, with N873 billion remitted in October alone. This marks a 17.67% increase compared to the previous month.

The revenue inflow improvement is attributed to various sources, including royalties, gas flaring penalties, and oil revenues. The remittances have provided temporary financial relief to the federal government, enabling it to meet recurrent spending obligations.

The need to stabilize production volumes, enforce compliance, and deepen reforms in the upstream oil sector is highlighted.
