Imo Police Locate Camp of Abducted Corps Members

The Imo State Police Command has identified the location of a camp where 19 prospective National Youth Service Corps members are being held after their abduction on October 1, 2026. Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso reported that security operatives used drones to trace the abductors into the bush but have delayed a raid due to fears of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted around the camp.
Bosso stated that the police are preparing to enter the area with heavy equipment, including bulldozers and armoured personnel carriers, to ensure the victims' safe rescue. The abduction occurred when gunmen attacked two buses carrying the corps members along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in the Umunoha area.
The abductors have reportedly demanded a ransom of N50 million for each victim, totaling N950 million. Families have been contacted through the victims' phones, and one mother, Mrs Oladosu, confirmed seeing her daughter during a video call with the abductors.
The police had previously announced the rescue of 10 victims, but it remains unclear if they were among those abducted.
