NYSC Resumes Allowance Arrears Payment, Easing Financial Burden

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has resumed the payment of allowance arrears after a two-month break, with the first batch receiving payments on June 3. The arrears cover the revised monthly allowance introduced by the Federal Government.

The payments are expected to span from July 2024 to March 2025. NYSC Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu explained that eligible members would receive the arrears as the funds are released.

This move comes after frustration among corps members due to delays in implementing the allowance increase. The aim is to ease the financial burden on Nigerian youth amidst the rising cost of living.
