Oando Foundation Grants N20m to Young Innovators in Lagos

Oando Foundation awarded a total of N20 million to ten outstanding young innovators during the closing ceremony of its Green Youth Upskill Program (GYUP) in Lagos. This initiative, which successfully completed its pilot cohort, aims to empower youth by providing practical training in renewable energy, waste management, and green enterprise development.

The foundation plans to train an additional 50 young Nigerians by July 2025. The GYUP focuses on workforce development, equipping participants with technical expertise and business acumen to create viable, impact-driven business models that address critical gaps in Nigeria's circular economy.

The top ten beneficiaries recognized for their innovative performance include Toluwalas Abiona, Temitop Fakored, and others, each receiving N2 million to accelerate their ventures. Tonia Uduimoh, head of Oando Foundation, emphasized the program's commitment to youth empowerment and skill development, while Mobolaji Abubakr Ogunlend, representing the Commission for Youth and Social Development, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in transforming lives and creating job opportunities.
