Oba of Benin Condemns Attack on Ex-Gov Obaseki's Cousin, Warns Against Youth Violence

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, through the Benin Traditional Council (BTC), disavowed any involvement in the recent attack on Dr. Pedro Obaseki, cousin of former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The palace secretary, Frank Irabor, clarified that the Oba neither authorized nor condoned the assault on Pedro Obaseki, urging the public to respect the rule of law and avoid spreading unverified information on social media. The incident occurred when Pedro Obaseki was allegedly stripped and assaulted by youths in Benin City following disrespectful remarks made towards the monarch during a visit to the kingdom.
