Obasanjo Slams Judiciary, Accuses INEC of Undermining Democracy In Nigeria

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has criticized the judiciary in Nigeria, accusing it of being corrupt and undermining democracy. In his newly released book, "Nigeria Past and Future," Obasanjo highlighted the decline in the integrity of the judiciary, with judges being accused of commercializing justice.

He warned that this corruption has eroded public trust in the justice system. Obasanjo also criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing its chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, of weakening Nigeria's democracy since taking office in 2015.

He claimed that Yakubu has grossly undermined the electoral process, making it a charade. Obasanjo expressed concern that justice in Nigeria is now available to the highest bidder, leading to potential anarchy and violence.
