Obi Consults Jonathan on 2027 Presidential Aspirations

On Monday, Peter Obi, the leader of the Labour Party, convened a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan and several South East leaders to discuss the upcoming 2027 presidential elections. The closed-door meeting took place at Jonathan's residence in Abuja and included prominent attendees such as former Enugu State Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo, former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission Onyema Ugochukwu, and Senator Victor Umeh.

During the meeting, Obi expressed his interest in contesting the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress. He emphasized the importance of free, fair, and credible elections, stating that the political system should not support undemocratic practices.

The consultation with Jonathan, who has previously served as president, is seen as a significant step in Obi's electoral strategy as he prepares for the upcoming elections.
