Obi Urges Tinubu to Resign Amid Economic Failures

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections, called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, paralleling the recent resignation of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Obi argued that Tinubu's administration has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians, particularly in light of worsening economic and social conditions.

He referenced past calls for former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign during economic hardships, suggesting that Tinubu should follow suit to honor the electorate's trust. Tinubu's spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, responded by labeling Obi's call for resignation as childish and undemocratic, asserting that the presidential electoral process should continue.

Obi emphasized the need for accountability in leadership and highlighted the ongoing issues of electricity supply, insecurity, and economic hardship in Nigeria, which he believes have deteriorated under Tinubu's administration.
