The Anambra State Government has published documents indicating that it scheduled N363.381 million in salary arrears for payment in 2026, related to workers and pensioners of two defunct agencies, as part of a dispute with former governor Peter Obi regarding the financial legacy he left. The documents were shared via New Media, a platform associated with the state government, and include a memo dated May 22, 2025, signed by a former head of service, referencing a terms-of-settlement agreement with the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).

This memo confirms that a first tranche of payments had been made and outlines plans for a second payment. The arrears pertain to former staff and pensioners of the Anambra State Water Corporation and Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency.

The Soludo administration claims these arrears represent unpaid salary entitlements from Obi's tenure, although the documents do not definitively trace the origin of the arrears to his administration. Obi has denied these allegations, asserting that his administration left Anambra financially sound.
