Court Voids Order Creating Nigeria Democratic Congress

The Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja has set aside its earlier judgment delivered on December 10, 2025, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Justice Isah Dashen ruled that the previous decision did not stand as necessary parties were not heard, rendering the judgment a nullity.

The application filed by the Peace Movement Party (PMP) to join the case was deemed to have merit, leading to the court's conclusion that the earlier proceedings had constitutional defects. Consequently, the court restored the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit and directed that the substantive suit commence afresh.
