Peter Obi's Camp Plans Appeal After NDC Deregistration

The camp of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), reacted to a recent ruling by Justice Isah Dashen of a high court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which deregistered the NDC. The ruling nullified an earlier court order that mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register political associations.

In a statement issued on Friday, spokesperson Idri Zekeri Jnr emphasized that the decision is a temporary setback and that the legal team is reviewing the judgment to prepare an appeal. The camp maintains confidence in overcoming the legal hurdles and insists that the ruling does not alter their ultimate goal of establishing an alternative political platform in Nigeria.

They called for calm among supporters and reaffirmed their commitment to fighting for their legal rights, viewing the court's decision as a brief obstacle rather than a permanent defeat.
