Oceang Engineering Appeals $13M Asset Forfeiture Order

Oceang Engineering Oil and Gas Limited, represented by Oluwaseyi Adedotun, is appealing a recent federal high court ruling that ordered the forfeiture of $13 million linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu. The court, presided over by Judge Emeka Nwite, ruled that the company and Achimugu failed to prove the legitimacy of the funds, which were deemed to be illicit.

Oceang's lawyer, Darlington Ozurumba, argued that the funds were a legitimate gift related to oil business, but this claim was dismissed by the court. The company, through its secretary Nnenna Onyeaso, described the ruling as based on suspicion rather than proof and has initiated an appeal process, expressing confidence in a favorable outcome.

Additionally, a group called New Gatekeepers, led by Jamiu Akand, condemned media narratives linking the case to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, asserting these claims are part of a broader agenda to undermine the governor's reputation.
