Court Orders Forfeiture of $13M Linked to Aisha Achimugu

On Wednesday, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million associated with Aisha Achimugu and her company, Oceangate Engineering, to the federal government. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully established that the funds were proceeds of fraud and unlawful activities.

The court had previously issued an interim forfeiture order on August 22, 2025. Justice Nwite noted that Oceangate failed to convincingly explain the legitimate source of the funds and rejected claims that the money represented gifts.

Achimugu did not appear in court to substantiate her claims. The EFCC linked the funds to suspicious financial transactions and alleged that they were connected to a bid for oil block licenses.

The court ruled that the EFCC met the legal threshold for the forfeiture, permanently forfeiting the $13 million to the federal government.
