Obaseki Rejects Edo Assembly Summons Amid Fund Ownership Probe

The former Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has refused to honor a summons from the Edo State House of Assembly to appear before an ad hoc committee probing the ownership of funds for the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) and Radisson Blu Hotel project. Obaseki, through his media aide Cruso Osagie, labeled the invitation offensive and laughable, arguing that the matter is already in court.

The investigation has attracted attention due to public scrutiny and tensions surrounding the MOWAA project. Legal counsel Olayiwola Afolabi emphasized the Assembly's limited role in making recommendations as the court holds the final authority.
