Peter Obi Announces 2027 Presidential Bid Under ADC

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). During a conference in Uyo on Saturday, Obi urged Nigerians to unite and warned against attempts to rig elections.

He emphasized the importance of real-time electronic transmission of election results to ensure transparency. Obi highlighted his commitment to contest the 2027 elections, pledging to prioritize education, healthcare, poverty reduction, and anti-corruption measures.

He also noted the current government's borrowing practices, with recent loans extending repayment obligations to 2045 and 2050. Obi affirmed his departure from the Labour Party to protect its recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the national coordinator of the Obi movement, called for nationwide support, while Dr.

Ben Smith, the Akwa Ibom State coordinator, stressed the need for unity among members to avoid internal divisions.
