Nearly six months after her announcement, her transfer appears to be stalled due to senior officials at the National Sports Commission considering her eligibility to compete for Nigeria. Ofili may have to wait until September 2028 to finalize her switch, risking her participation in the 2028 Summer Olympics.

This situation is complicated by her previous exclusion from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to doping control issues. Former Nigerian sprinter Mari Onyali criticized Ofili's decision to switch countries, emphasizing loyalty to Nigeria.

The recruitment of international athletes ahead of the 2028 Olympics remains unclear, and it is uncertain if Ofili will officially join Turkiye.
