Ofili Returns to Nigeria After Switch to Türkiye Rejected

Ofili, a star in the 100m and 200m events, is expected to boost Nigeria's sprint prospects as the nation prepares for major international competitions, including the Paris 2024 Olympics. The decision to reject her switch was part of a broader strategy by World Athletics to discourage the recruitment of foreign athletes, which undermines the development of homegrown talent.

Former AFN President Solomon Ogba praised the decision as just, emphasizing the need for athletes to focus on their careers without switching national allegiances. Ofili remains eligible to compete for Nigeria but faces challenges, including a potential three-year waiting period before she can reapply for a switch if she chooses to pursue that route.
