Ogun Gateway Airport Approved for 2026 Hajj Flights

Ogun Gateway Airport has been granted full regulatory approval for 2026 Hajj operations, as confirmed by a memo dated April 30, 2026, addressed to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) conducted extensive inspections and assessed the airport's operational readiness, safety compliance, and security arrangements.

Ogun Gateway Airport is among five airports cleared to operate Hajj flights without restrictions, alongside Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, and Obafemi Jeremiah International Airport in Port Harcourt. This approval is expected to facilitate smoother travel arrangements for pilgrims from Ogun State and neighboring areas, reducing congestion at other airports during the Hajj period.

The NCAA's approval also aims to strengthen investor confidence in the airport's long-term commercial viability. Additionally, 12 other airports received conditional clearance subject to compliance improvements.
