Ogun State and IBEDC Collaborate to Boost Electricity Supply

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun met with the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company PLC (IBEDC) on Thursday to discuss collaboration aimed at improving electricity supply across Ogun State. During the courtesy visit, Governor Abiodun emphasized the need for stricter laws to deter vandalism of power infrastructure, assuring that the state government would introduce mechanisms to protect critical electricity assets.

He disclosed plans to implement tighter regulatory controls within the electricity market to ensure credible technical operations and licensing. IBEDC reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing electricity supply and strengthening power infrastructure in Ogun State, with a focus on strategic collaboration with the state government.

Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, a board member of IBEDC, and CEO Deolu Ijos highlighted the importance of Ogun State within the company's franchise due to its rapid industrial growth and increasing energy demand.

They also identified key projects requiring collaboration, including the development of various feeder lines to improve power reliability and access in the region.
