Student Drowns Fleeing Amotekun Corps in Ogun Protest Tragedy

A tragic incident unfolded in Ogun State as a student drowned while fleeing from Amotekun Corps during a protest at Ilugun High School in Elega, Abeokuta. The protest erupted over alleged illegal fees collected by teachers, leading to a violent confrontation.

Witnesses reported that the presence of Amotekun operatives caused students to scatter, with one student tragically drowning in a river near the school. Two other students were rescued, but one, identified as Babalola, lost his life.

The incident sparked anger among students who returned to the school the following day, vandalizing property and attacking a teacher. The situation remains tense in the aftermath of the student's death.
