Ogun Ombudsman Advocates Peaceful Campaigns for 2027

Mr. Morakinyo Akinley, the Ogun State Ombudsman, called for peaceful and issue-based campaigns as the 2027 general elections approach.

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, Akinley stressed the need for political stakeholders to conduct their activities in line with existing laws and to uphold democratic ideals. He highlighted that the political climate in Ogun State should reflect maturity and respect for the rule of law.

Akinley urged aspirants from all political parties to focus on concrete policies and strategies addressing key areas such as economic development, youth empowerment, security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He warned against campaigns that resort to personal attacks, misinformation, and ethnic prejudices, which could undermine public trust and democratic institutions.

Akinley emphasized the importance of restraint and discipline among political actors to prevent hostility and violence, urging them to articulate clear manifestos and engage in constructive debates to address the needs of the populace.
