Iyabo Obasanjo Advocates for Peaceful Elections in Ogun

Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a governorship aspirant in Ogun State, has urged political stakeholders to collaborate to curb electoral violence as the 2027 governorship elections approach. Speaking at an Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) meeting in Abeokuta, she highlighted the necessity of fostering dialogue and open communication among political actors to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Obasanjo stressed that understanding among political parties is crucial for strengthening democracy and promoting stability in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole. She noted her extensive experience in politics and her commitment to prioritizing job creation, industrial development, agricultural investment, and healthcare improvement.

Abayomi Sanyaolu, the IPAC chairman, acknowledged three recognized governorship aspirants: Iyabo Obasanjo, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and Sarafa Tunji Isola, emphasizing that only those who formally engage with IPAC would be recognized. The council aims to avoid past electoral conflicts by encouraging serious aspirants to present their plans and visions.
