Ogun PDP Claims Attack on Campaign Convoy Amid Tensions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have engaged in a blame game regarding a shooting incident that occurred during a campaign convoy of PDP governorship candidate Oladipupo Adebutu in the Ososa area. The PDP alleged that their convoy was attacked with gunfire, stones, and other weapons, while the APC contended that the shooting was executed by security personnel associated with Adebutu.

Dr Abayomi Tella, the PDP State Chairman, made these allegations during a press briefing at the party's secretariat in Abeokuta. Tella claimed that the PDP had been denied access to billboard spaces for their candidate and faced harassment from the APC.

He also reported that the party was prevented from holding a campaign rally in Idowa despite having paid N170,000 for the venue. On their way to an alternative location in Odogbolu, the PDP convoy was reportedly attacked, resulting in vandalized vehicles and injuries among party members.

Tella expressed frustration over the police's response, stating that instead of addressing the attack, they arrested PDP members who were the complainants.
