Ogun Resident Doctors Strike Over Security Breaches

Resident doctors in Ogun State commenced a three-day warning strike on June 4, 2026, following a significant security breach at their quarters, which included the theft of mobile phones, laptops, and cash. The strike was announced in a communiqué after an emergency meeting held by the Resident Doctors Association, signed by President Dr. Olanipekun Aris Kola and Assistant General Secretary Dr. Olufemi Alawod.

The doctors expressed deep dissatisfaction with the recurring security lapses and the absence of effective preventive measures, which they believe pose a serious threat to their safety and welfare. They have issued a list of demands, including the replacement of stolen items, a review of current security arrangements, improved lighting around the premises, installation of functional CCTV cameras, deployment of armed security personnel, and the establishment of a police post nearby.

Hospital management, represented by Director of Administration Mr. E.K. Apanisil, expressed regret over the industrial action and appealed for calm while engaging relevant authorities to resolve the issues.
