Ogun Doctors Suspend Warning Strike After Government Meeting

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Ogun State announced the suspension of a warning strike after an emergency meeting held on Wednesday. Dr.

John Omotoso, the NMA president, disclosed that the decision followed a thorough appraisal of the association's demands and the progress made thus far. Members are urged to resume work by 8:00 AM on June 25, 2026.

The meeting included state government officials, such as Mr. Tokunbo Talabi and Mr.

Olanrewaju Saka. The NMA plans to convene an emergency general meeting on August 1, 2026, to evaluate the situation and determine the next course of action.

The association warned against any victimization or harassment of its members during this period. Despite an earlier 14-day ultimatum, there was no memorandum of understanding signed with the state government regarding the payment of outstanding arrears related to the medical residency training fund, which has caused dissatisfaction among doctors.
