Ogun State Reinforces Zero Tolerance for Illegal Structures, Emphasizes Permit Compliance

Ogun State's Plan Develop Permit Authority reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards illegal structures, emphasizing the need for compliance with building regulations. Itunu Jolaoluwa, a representative of the state, highlighted the significance of adhering to approved building plans and obtaining necessary permits for construction activities.

The state aims to ensure safe, sustainable, and orderly development across Ogun State, as mandated by the Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law of 2022. Jolaoluwa emphasized that any development without proper approval or permits is illegal and cautioned against unauthorized construction within road setbacks or along highways.

The authority has streamlined the permit process to expedite approvals for residential and commercial developments within specific timelines. Residents were urged to consult the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development for guidance on the necessary procedures before commencing any construction projects.

Jolaoluwa also warned against any attacks on town planning officials, stating that offenders would face legal consequences for obstructing the discharge of their duties.
