Ogun State Government Promises Justice for Killed Worker

The Ogun State Government has committed to ensuring justice for Seyi Afolabi, a contract staff member who was shot and killed during a demolition enforcement operation on Monday. The incident occurred along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area while Afolabi was part of a team from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Tensions escalated when military personnel allegedly opened fire during the demolition of illegal structures. Major Idereghi Akari from the 35 Artillery Brigade confirmed that an investigation is underway.

The government, represented by Chief Press Secretary Lekan Adeniran and Olatunji Odunlami, has assured the family of Afolabi that they will not be abandoned and that necessary support will be provided, including a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Arrests have already been made, and the government emphasizes accountability for those involved.
