D’Tigress Optimistic Despite Losses to WNBA Teams

The Nigerian senior women's basketball team, D’Tigress, recently lost two games against WNBA teams, including a narrow defeat to the Minnesota Lynx with a score of 88-79. Bab Ogunade, Vice President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), remained optimistic about the team's performance, emphasizing that the results are part of their preparatory games ahead of the FIBA World Cup in Germany.

Ogunade noted the mix of youth and experience within the team, highlighting the contributions of players such as captain Ezinn Kalu, who scored 25 points, and Gabbi Williams, who added 16 points. The team showed improved ball movement and defensive intensity, leading to a competitive performance against the Lynx, where they held a 42-38 lead at halftime.

Despite their 0-2 record, Ogunade believes the team is making steady progress and will continue to refine their strategy as they prepare for a crucial match against the Indiana Fever on May 2.
