Nigeria's Oil Production Rises Amid Reduced Pipeline Losses

Nigeria's oil production has surged to approximately 1.735 million barrels per day in June, marking a fourth consecutive monthly increase. This rise is linked to a significant reduction in pipeline losses, which have reached historical lows, and enhanced security of oil assets.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission's July report attributes this improvement to the operations of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL), appointed by President Bola Tinubu to safeguard Nigeria's oil assets in the Niger Delta. TSSNL, led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, has collaborated with other security agencies to ensure the protection of oil pipelines, contributing to the stability and growth of the sector.

The decline in pipeline losses, previously costing Nigeria billions due to sabotage and production shutdowns, is expected to boost government revenue and external reserves. Nigeria also met its OPEC production quota for the third consecutive month in July, producing a combined 1.67 million barrels per day of crude oil and condensate.
