Oji Advances to Women’s Shot Put Final at U-20 Championships

Oji delivered an impressive performance to secure her place in the women’s shot put final at the ongoing 2026 World Athletics U-20 Championships in Oregon, USA. She achieved a best throw of 17.56 meters in the qualification round, comfortably surpassing the automatic qualifying mark and finishing first overall.

Oji led a competitive field, with Ecuador’s Belsy Jenniffer Quiñónez finishing second with a throw of 17.25 meters, and Maria Rafailidou completing the top three qualifiers. This commanding display further solidified Oji's reputation as a rising star in global athletics.

Earlier this year, she switched allegiance to Nigeria and has since made headlines with her outstanding performances, including winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
