Ojude Oba Festival 2026 Celebrates Ijebu Heritage

The Ojude Oba Festival 2026, a grand celebration of Ijebu heritage and cultural pride, took place in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. This year's festival was significant as it was held without the reigning Awujal following the passing of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona on July 13, 2025, after a 65-year reign.

The event was overseen by Chief Sonni Folorunso Kuku, the regent of Ijebuland. The festival showcased a vibrant display of culture, featuring traditional music, fashion, and a parade that highlighted the rich heritage of the Ijebu people.

Guinness Nigeria PLC participated as a sponsor, reflecting its commitment to cultural preservation. The festival attracted thousands, including dignitaries, business leaders, and members of the global Ijebu diaspora, reaffirming its importance as a cultural tourism asset.

Notable performances included those by veteran Fuji artist Adewale Ayuba, and the event also featured the Orijin Village, which offered a unique hospitality experience. The festival emphasized community connection and the enduring spirit of Ijebu culture.
