Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Asserts Independence from NDC

On September 25, 2026, John Ughulu, the Director General of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, stated that the movement operates independently and does not receive financial support from Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, or the NDC itself. Ughulu emphasized that the movement's structure is based on its own principles and values, and it does not require approval from the NDC leadership.

He asserted that the recently launched Presidential Campaign Council remains valid despite dissent from some NDC leaders. The NDC had announced the registration of support groups for the upcoming 2027 elections, which led to disagreements with various groups backing its presidential ticket.

Osa Director, the NDC's National Publicity Secretary, clarified that the registration process is free and managed by the party's Directorate of Support Groups. Ughulu reiterated that the OK Movement is an independent political organization, distinct from the NDC, and operates within the legal framework without dependency on the party or its candidates.
