Edo Governor Appeals for Calm Over Benin-Agbor Road Issues

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State appealed to residents and youths to remain calm as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to improve the Benin–Agbor Road. This appeal came after an inspection of the road with Minister of Works David Umahi, members of the National Assembly, and officials from the Federal Ministry of Works.

Okpebholo noted that the inspection allowed them to assess the road's condition and the daily challenges faced by commuters. Minister Umahi apologized to the residents of Edo and Delta states for the road's condition and directed immediate measures to rectify the situation.

He also ordered action against contractors removing asphalt from federal roads without authorization. Okpebholo emphasized the importance of Edo as a major gateway in the country and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for addressing the concerns regarding the road.

He urged patience among residents while efforts to provide lasting relief are underway, following increasing complaints about the road's deteriorating state affecting transportation and business activities.
