Edo Queens Clinch NWFL Title, Governor Congratulates Team

Edo Queens Football Club secured their second Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title on Sunday, following a 0-0 draw against Bayelsa Queens in the final match of the Super Six playoff held at Adokiy Amiesimaka Stadium. The Benin-based team executed a disciplined game plan, which allowed them to finish the Super Six with 10 points, two points ahead of Bayelsa Queens, who placed second.

Nasarawa Amazons completed the top three, while Abia Angels ended their debut campaign with six points. Edo Queens will represent Nigeria in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers scheduled for Burkina Faso from August 13 to September 5, aiming to secure qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Governor Senator Mondai Okpebholo described the team's victory as a proud moment for Edo State, commending the players, coaching staff, and management for their dedication and discipline. Dr. Patrick Ebojel, the governor's chief press secretary, reiterated the commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and supporting athletes in Edo State.
