Okpekpe 10km Road Race Rescheduled to May 30, 2026

The Okpekpe International 10km Road Race has officially moved its date from May 23 to May 30, 2026. This decision was announced by the event organizers, Pamodzi Sport Marketing, to ensure the success of the race, which is recognized as a historic World Athletics Gold Label event.

Race Director Zack Amodu explained that the one-week postponement will allow for improved logistical arrangements, expanded medical coverage, and enhanced security measures for both athletes and spectators. Amodu emphasized that these proactive steps are aimed at guaranteeing the comfort and safety of all participants.

Additionally, the race's medical director has recently completed World Athletics certification in Madrid, making the Okpekpe race the first in Nigeria to achieve this certification, thereby raising the standards of the competition. The Okpekpe International 10km Road Race is notable for being the first road race in Nigeria and West Africa to receive Gold Label status, attracting elite runners from around the globe.
