Okpekpe 10km Road Race Rescheduled to May 30, 2026

The Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, a prestigious event recognized as the first road race in Nigeria and West Africa to receive a World Athletics Gold Label status, has been rescheduled from May 23 to May 30, 2026. The organizers, Pamodzi Sport Marketing, announced this change to improve logistical arrangements, including expanded medical coverage and enhanced security measures.

Race Director Zack Amodu emphasized that the postponement is a proactive step to guarantee the comfort and safety of athletes and fans, ensuring a world-class race experience. Additionally, the race's medical director has recently completed World Athletics certification in Madrid, making the Okpekpe race the first in Nigeria to achieve this distinction, thereby raising the competition's standards.

The adjustments are not due to setbacks but are aimed at elevating the quality of the prestigious event.
