Edo Governor Okpebholo's Warning to Peter Obi Resurfaces

An old video featuring Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo resurfaced online, where he allegedly warned former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi not to enter Edo State without prior notification. The 58-second clip, recorded on July 18, 2025, during a political event in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area, shows Okpebholo cautioning Obi that security cannot be guaranteed if he enters the state unannounced.

This resurfacing of the video occurred on Tuesday following reports of an alleged assassination attempt on Obi, which was linked to an incident involving gunfire that damaged the windscreen of Obi's convoy. The attack reportedly took place near the residence of John Odigi Oyegun, the current chairman of the ADC and former Edo State governor.

Social media users expressed concern for Obi's safety, referencing Okpebholo's remarks from 2025. As of now, the Edo State government has not issued an official response regarding the resurfaced video or the recent attack, and security agencies have yet to release detailed statements about the incident.
