Oloyede Completes JAMB Tenure, Returns to Academia

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede officially handed over his position as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to Prof.

Segun Aina on Friday in Abuja, concluding a decade of service. Oloyede stated he would return to academia and focus on religious activities, citing the toll public service took on his spiritual life.

He defended JAMB's controversial decision to sanction candidate Mmesoma Ejikeme, who manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination score from 249 to 362, asserting that the action was necessary to maintain the credibility of the admissions process. Oloyede expressed no regrets about the sanction, which included a three-year ban, stating it was meant to deter examination malpractice.

He attributed JAMB's achievements during his tenure to the dedication of its workforce and expressed confidence that his successor, Prof. Aina, would continue to build on the reforms implemented.
