Oloyede's Painful JAMB Experience: Parental Malpractice

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who served as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for ten years, revealed that his most painful experience during his tenure was the involvement of parents in examination malpractice.

He made this statement on Sunday during a program on Arise Television, shortly after officially handing over to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, on Friday.

Aina, appointed by President Bola Tinubu in May, is a professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Oloyede expressed sadness over how parents actively participated in organizing examination malpractice for their children, stating that candidates are often influenced by their parents rather than being the main drivers of malpractice.

He described confronting parents about their involvement as the lowest point of his administration, despite considering his tenure largely fulfilling. Oloyede expressed confidence in Aina's ability to enhance JAMB's use of technology in conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
