Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known as Olu Jacobs, passed away at the age of 84, representing a monumental loss for Nigeria's theatre, television, and film industries. Born on July 11, 1942, he grew up in Kano and developed an early passion for acting, influenced by Hubert Ogunde.

Jacobs trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began his professional career in British theatre and television, appearing in productions such as A Taste of Honey and various British television series. His international career flourished in the 1980s with roles in films like The Dogs of War and Pirates.

In 1990, he returned to Nigeria and became a prominent figure in Nollywood, featuring in over 100 films. Jacobs was known for his commanding voice and stage presence, often portraying authoritative characters with depth and credibility.
