Olu of Warri Criticizes IOCs for Neglecting Itsekiri Communities in Niger Delta

The Olu of Warri visited Jakpa Community in Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, expressing concerns over the neglect of Itsekiri people despite 60 years of oil exploration in their land. He emphasized the need for a new moral foundation in the Niger Delta, highlighting the continuous poverty and neglect faced by the community.

The monarch called for a shift in priorities towards providing essential services like electricity, water, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for the local people. He criticized IOCs for exploiting the region's resources without adequately benefiting the community and urged the government and oil companies to collaborate for sustainable development.
