Delta Community Accuses Chevron of Neglect and Demands More Jobs

The Ugborodo community in Delta State staged a protest against Chevron Nigeria Limited, alleging neglect and marginalization in terms of employment opportunities. They demanded 70 direct slots from Chevron and its joint ventures, citing non-implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.

Community leaders like Emmanuel Onuwaj highlighted decades of neglect by Chevron, leading to poverty and lack of job opportunities. The protest also emphasized the need for indigenous employment and adherence to local content laws.

Despite appeals to the federal government, the community remains resolute in their demands for better treatment from Chevron.
