Oyo APC Candidate Alli Elevated to Ekerin Balogun Title

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has elevated Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Oyo State in the 2027 election, from Ekarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland. Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, announced his elevation via a statement on his X account, noting he could not attend the ceremony at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, as he is currently performing Umrah in the Holy Land.

He expressed gratitude for the honor and emphasized that the new title signifies greater responsibility rather than just a change in rank. Alli highlighted that in Ibadanland, honor is tied to service, and he is prepared to take on the responsibilities associated with his elevation.

His previous elevation from Maye Balogun to Ekarun Balogun occurred in August 2024, and he was also approved for elevation to the rank of a beaded crown-wearing Oba by the Oyo State Government in March 2026.
