General Oluyede Prioritizes Soldier Welfare and Training

General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, born in Ikere, Ekiti State, in 1968, joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987 and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1992. He has served in various challenging operations, including Liberia, Bakassi, and the North-East, where he commanded troops under Operation HADIN KAI.

As Chief of Defence Staff, Oluyede has shown that leadership is about responsibility and the welfare of military personnel. He acknowledged the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria while noting measurable progress in the Armed Forces.

His approach includes increasing the daily ration cash allowance for troops from N1,500 to N3,000 and implementing affordable housing initiatives. Oluyede believes that training is the "best form of welfare" for soldiers, emphasizing the need for adequate preparation to face modern warfare challenges.

His commitment to improving training capacity reflects his understanding of the importance of soldier welfare beyond basic provisions.
