OMO Bills Lead N8.09tn Fixed Income Trades in Nigeria

From August 10 to 14, 2026, Nigeria's fixed income market recorded a total face value of N8.09 trillion traded across 2,022 transactions. Open Market Operation (OMO) bills dominated this activity, accounting for N6.01 trillion, or approximately 74% of the total trades.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Fixed Income Dashboard indicated that there were 920 OMO bill trades involving 26 participants. Marginal activity was noted in Sukuk, with only three trades valued at N12 million. The overall transactions involved 28 participants and a combined face value of N8.094 trillion.
The dominance of OMO bills coincided with elevated yields, with an OMO closing yield of 21.50% and a weighted average yield of 20.79%. Treasury bill yields were also firm, showing a closing yield of 20.91% and a weighted average yield of 16.59%.
