Nigerian Navy and NSIB Recover Wreckage of NAF Aircraft

On October 14, specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) successfully recovered components of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to investigate the crash that occurred on October 5.
The NAF's Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, stated that underwater search and recovery operations are continuing, with multi-agency teams working tirelessly to locate and retrieve materials relevant to the investigation. The recovered components are being documented and preserved to assist in reconstructing the circumstances of the accident.
Ejodame explained that the challenging recovery operation is supported by hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, mud excavation, and pumping out excess water to improve access to critical areas.
