Pat Utomi Advocates for Technology in Nigerian Elections

Professor Pat Utomi, a member of the Movement for Credible Elections, expressed concerns regarding the lack of technological integration in Nigeria's electoral process during an appearance on Arise News. He warned that if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to prevent the use of technology, such as livestreaming at polling units, Nigerians might resort to taking matters into their own hands.

Utomi emphasized that election monitoring should not rely solely on political party agents, advocating for greater public access to polling station activities through technology. He compared Nigeria's situation to that of the UK and the US, where election results are monitored by the media without public knowledge of the electoral commission chairman's identity.

Furthermore, Utomi criticized the misuse of public funds for political campaigns, labeling it as criminal and expressing a desire to see politicians prosecuted for such actions.
