NCC Reports Only 23% of Rural Communities in Nigeria Have Internet Access, Reveals Executive

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) revealed that only 23% of rural communities in Nigeria have internet access, compared to 57% in urban areas, indicating a substantial digital divide. Dr.

Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, emphasized the importance of addressing this gap to prevent millions of Nigerians from being left behind in education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The NCC is implementing initiatives like the Rural Broadband Initiative (RUBI) to expand digital access in underserved areas.

Additionally, the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) is executing projects to enhance education and e-health access nationwide.
