“Only coalition of parties can defeat Tinubu in 2027” – Fmr Kano governor

Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, believes that only a coalition of political parties can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Shekarau emphasized the need for opposition parties to work together to strengthen their political platform.

He highlighted the role of a coalition in the 2011 elections, where parties attempted to form an alliance to defeat then-President Goodluck Jonathan. Shekarau recalled meetings between key political figures, including Tinubu, in 2011 to discuss coalition work.

He noted that the failure of the coalition in 2011 eventually led to a successful merger of parties in 2015. Shekarau stressed the importance of parties negotiating as representatives rather than individual aspirants to achieve success in future elections.
