Nigerian rapper and singer, Naira Marley, has raised alarm over the prevalence of cultism in the Nigerian music industry. He stated that only a few artists, including himself, have not joined cults.

Marley criticized the trend of artists joining cults for power and protection, even suggesting that some are influenced to do so by moving around with police escorts. He emphasized that he has previously refuted claims of being a cultist and has even faced threats for refusing to join such groups.
